J5 Track Assembly Part 03

Parts from current Club drawings

In this tutorial we will add the keyed flanges for tip toe operation to the assembled butterfly plates.

These keyed flanges attach ONLY to the inside butterfly plate, we will attach the outer retainer in a later tutorial.

-- Only one track is shown.  There are two identical tracks required.

Drill the holes at 0, 120 and 240 degrees to 0.25 inches.  I used a step bit for this (the hole is cut to 0.20” during the water jet milling).  This will locate the shaft key at the bottom when the coupler is attached.

   Tap the remaining holes at 60, 180, and 240 degrees to ¼ - 20.

Attach the keyed flange to the upper idler using 6 each ¼-20 button head hex screws.  Three are     inserted from the inside, and three from the outside.  This flange will lock the track to the coupling axle. gear_drive-04.JPG (154696 bytes)
