JAG/Painter Foot Drive Assembly
JAG/Painter Main Foot Drive Kit
The Foot drive was redesigned by JAG
from the original Dave Painter design. This is a one time project,
and not a club run. I am not aware of any plans to do a club run on
these, but who knows....
-- Single piece shell for easy
assembly.
-- Off shelf parts modified for the
design.
-- Uses the NPC motors

Pre-assembly
: All the parts in a row. Jerry had already put the
sub-assemblies togeather. :-)

Assembly:
Axle is pressed through the wheel/bearing. I turned the axle in the
lathe with 600 polish to make the fit a bit less tight. Belt is
installed with the axle per Jerry's instructions.

Assembly:
Wheel carrier is attached to the frame with 4 socket head machine screws.

Rear ball glide is attached to support. The support is threaded to
accept the glide.

with the motor.

Assembly:
Mounting holes to hold the drive frame.

Assembly:
This was my cut in the foot to allow the motors to pass (and also allow the
drive assembly to be inserted into the foot shell while fully assembled).
Jerry came up with a slightly different cut that looks a bit
better cosmetically, but the cut-out is behind the battery box, so anything
that works for your motor will be okay.

Assembly:
Motor is mounted to the droid leg.

View:
Front view of foot with motor. Inner shaft is still attached (to be
removed later).

Assembly:
The top cap on the motor has to be ground down to fit in the battery
box. I used a chop saw blade and ground it on the side. Probably
be easy if you have the right tools.

Assembly:
Battery box fits! Really needs some filler and paint. I
will get to that next.

Assembly:
Just a quick peek at the under side. Yes, the motor is in there.
